Another Day...

...another addiction.

Last night after getting home from a nice four mile run I found the little box. It was about the same size as the Crystal Box but I knew this was not Crystal Light. It was the other addiction in my life -- Gu Energy Gel.

I was introduced to these little packets of pure joy by my running coach. They come in all of these wonderful flavors but my favorites so far are: vanilla bean, chocolate outrage and tri-berry. The idea is to take one 15 minutes before your run and then another one 30-40 minutes into your run. They really do help on my longer runs and they taste fantastic. I swear you might be tempted to put the chocolate outrage on top of your ice cream, its that good.

Crystal Light

Crystal Light

They introduced me to it. I would scour the shelves to hunt it out, thinking that everyone else loved it as well because it became more difficult to find. When I couldn't find it on the shelves I would go to the special Crystal Light rotating display case and find the remaining boxes there. After a while I couldn't find them at Stop & Shop at all. That left me with Target in White Plains, but who wants to go to Target just for Crystal Light even if they sell your Sugar in the Raw at half the price of Stop & Shop?

My salvation came in buythecase.net. I got my first delivery of the magic powdery mix yesterday. I got my fix and now everything seems right in the world.

Dara Torres

For about a year now I have been following the progress of Dara Torres as she has been making her way back to the Olympics in Beijing this summer. When the average age of an Olympic swimmer is something like 19 it is amazing that a 41-year-old woman is not only expected to give it a nice try but to actually win her events and possibly even break some world records - for time, not age.

Last night she won the 100 meter freestyle to make it on to team USA and will be headed to her fifth Olympics. I am in awe, I don't know if it is because of my own recent athletic pursuits or because I want her body.
