Spooks Series 6
I got the most exciting email today - Series 6 (Season 5 for the US) of Spooks (MI-5 in the US) is coming out on DVD on February 25th in the UK. Normally I have to wait until September to get the DVDs. I can't believe series 6 is coming out so soon and yes, I have pre-ordered my copy already.
This has been the second best news of the week.

Shitty Day
I'm totally bummed today. Got the county tax bill last night and once again it has gone up, due at the end of the month this basically means that I can't afford to take any courses for my project management certificate this spring. That has put all of my plans on hold. No courses, no getting out of this company as planned. You see in order for me to get a job that relates to something I actually want to do, I need this certificate.
I honestly don't know if I can afford to live in the state of New York anymore which also adds to the shitty-ness of the day and all but two people I know are on the shit list today.
But, even though I technically should have saved the 74 bucks and put it toward the program management cert I needed to do something that would make me feel good. So I bought 1 ticket (too many people on the shit list) in the second row, center orchestra to see one of my favorite actresses, directed by another favorite actress of mine. I am going to see Crimes of the Heart directed by Kathleen Turner and starring Sarah Paulson on January 27.

Golden Globes
Normally, awards season is one of my favorite times of the year. I approach picking the winners of the Golden Globes, SAGs and Oscars with great seriousness. Finding the correct balance between who will win and who should win is very complex.
This year I haven't been that excited as there really hasn't been that one movie that has really stood out. Yes, Atonement is good but somewhat formulaic. Although I will add that I still have to make my Oscar rush to view all of the nominated films.
What I have found exciting is all the back and forth between the Writer's Guild of America, Screen Actors Guild, the Hollywood Foreign Press and NBC on whether or not the Globes would actually take place. There honestly has been more drama involved with that than in any movie I have seen this year.
As I'm sure you have now heard the Globes and parties surrounding them have been cancelled. At one point NBC was actually planning on airing the one hour news conference announcing the winners - yup must see tv at its best.
Now that I think of it, a one hour news conference might be an approach that the Oscars should follow.

The New Blog
After burying myself in PHP for about a month or so now, I'm just about ready to start working on the new blog in earnest. Thanks to the new Dreamweaver I'm saved from having to do most of the coding myself, whew. Basically I just have to figure out what I want the design to look like.
Of course I still have to figure out how I'm going to provide access to all the stuff on Blogger but I'll figure it out somehow.
