The New Banner

Ok, I've got the beginnings of the new banner. Yes, it has taken me a bit longer to get into the fall foliage thing but its still November and I got some time with that.

If I ever remember the person who created the special Photoshop brushes where I got the foliage brush from I will post that. All I can say now is that I am grateful to that person because they have lievened up my Photoshop brushes quite a bit.

Today is the day after Thanksgiving and now I must do what my new banner says and live off those leftovers.

This Wine

Has won the honors of being the first bottle consumed today.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The turkey has been in the oven for about 30 minutes now. The desserts are made, a Martha Stewart pumpkin cake and the usual pumpkin pie and the new dog gate is up in the kitchen. The side dishes will get under way in a few hours. Oh and most importantly the wine bottles are lined up and ready to be opened as needed.

I love this holiday, the food, the wine and the company.

Wow

I can't believe I've had this blog since April 2004. I also can't believe I've been rambling on about mostly dumb random things for that long. But people keep coming here and stay on the site long enough that, well, I might as well keep it up.

One of the things I plan to do this weekend is work on my professional website (update the resume and portfolio) and then re-design on this site. I need a new header that has a little more pop. The header will mostly come this weekend. I also want to totally redo the site using php (that's a programming language for my non-techie friends). Doing this will force me to finish learning php and give me the real practice I need in developing sites using php.

I saw this great book at the Barnes & Noble in Richmond that combined php with Dreamweaver 8. For some very dumb reason I didn't get it because I was worried Brandy would think I was a super nerd. She already knows this so I don't know why it was an issue with me. But anyway, I didn't even make a note of the title of the book and only have a vague recollection of what it looks like. The color of the spine was kind of fuchsia and the title mentioned php and Dreamweaver 8. See its not much to go on! I even went to my B&N and no luck, they didn't have it. I think it is at Amazon but I'm not too sure but the table of contents looks similar so I may get that.

The whole point of this is that I am going to redo this whole blog and move it over to php and say adios to Blogger. Not that Blogger is bad, I just want some more control. I just have to figure out how to capture all of the posts going back to April 2004 and incorporate them into the new site.

I'm also hoping that by doing this it will get me more motivated to do things when I get home that don't involve watching tv and drinking wine all night. I feel I should be more productive, right?

Get Away Day

Well another Congress is in the books. I honestly can't explain how
happy I am that it is finally over!

Perhaps the nicest part of the trip is that my volunteers got me a
plaque. Just so you know this is a very rare thing. My suitcase weighs
a ton because of it now.

Now I'm just sitting here in the airport waiting to begin my long ass
journey home by way of Dallas. Total travel time adds up to about 10
hours. Ugh.

The Fall of Congress 07

Every year at Congress I hope to get that one story that is just going to make its way through headquarters before I even get back. Well my friends I may it, in fact it may be the best Congress in my entire time at the job.

For the past couple of years at the Honors Dinner there has been music and dancing. So on Monday night Phyllis is danicng with everyone and ends up danicng with John. Elio is also on the dance floor and Elio and John decide to try and out do each other dance-wise. Elio decides to dip the person he's dancing with and of course John decides to dip Phyllis. But Phyllis wasn't prepared and John kept trying to force the dip and dropped Phyllis and then he fell on top of her! Nobody got hurt expect for some bruised egos. We're trying to find out if anyone got some video and if I get my hands on it, its going on you tube!

Session Nightmare

Today was the first day of technical sessions and it was a nightmare.
One disaster after another. Now I am going to get drunk.

Hate the West Coast

Its 3:25 and I'm wide awake. I even stayed up to 11 last night local
time that would be 2:00am NY time. This is going to be long week and I
have a Snow Patrol song stuck in my head. Grrrrr.

What I hate

Families who fly together & have to shout to each other over multiple
rows. This is going to be a long four hours.

Another Congress

On Saturday I will be leaving for yet another Congress. I swear this year's conference is cursed from over zealous organizers to photographers who sub-contracted their work.

I am not looking forward to this trip at all.

My Richmond Weekend

Well I'm now a whole week removed from my awesome weekend in Richmond.

When I first made plans to go down to Richmond my expectations were small -- after all the goal was to hangout with B and just relax. I had never been to Richmond and up until a couple of months ago I didn't even know it had its own airport so I had no idea what to expect.

I arrived on Friday morning and brought some well deserved rain with me but that did not dampen our spirits and we set out for the Barboursville Vinyards for a little wine tasting. A little advice, make sure you eat before you go. I got my souvenier wine glass, which is sitting proudly next to a bunch of wine bottles in the mini-bar area of the house. Friday evenning was spent polishing of a bottle of wine and heading over to Mom's Siam for some awesome Thai that is some of the best I've had outside of New York.

Saturday was spent eating, walking, and drinking and perhaps the best time I've had in a long time. On Sunday I visited a fashion park, apparantly Richmond does not have malls, and then headed over to Carytown.

Ok, this is kinda a sucky review of the weekend but it is difficult to put into words what a great time I had hanging out with B. I do have a newfound appreciation for the city and it now ranks up in the top 5 places I would consider moving to if I ever left New York.
