So Domesticated
I received another household item yesterday. Here is the tally since Christmas.
1 calphalon pizza pan
1 pizza stone w/ pizza cutter
1 4 piece cutting board set (fish, poultry, meat and vegetables)
1 mini food prep
1 silicone pot holder
1 collapsible strainer
1 pastry/all purpose brush
1 Cuisinart knife
1 Cuisinart mandolin
1 immersible blender
Combine this with the fact that I now make my own pizza dough and used my broiler for the first time ever. I'm so domesticated that even I'm appalled.

Making Pizza
So a few weeks ago I posted that I had made my first ever pizza dough. Well I made my second batch today, it gives me about two 12 inch pies a batch. I'm getting better at it and am even getting better at making the pie resemble something that is supposed to be round. Although, I am nowhere near tossing it up in the air. I know better than that. But when I do you can bet it will be documented. That is why we have blogs. Click on the image above to see the pizza creation in it's various stages.

Monday, Monday
I wonder how many blogs will have a title similar to this today?
The bad news. Chrissy has called out sick today leaving me all lone to deal with teapot and various other issues at work.
The good news. Blogger seems to be working on my PC today.
The bad news. Rick will be stopping by soon to rebuild my PC. I keep getting these Matrix-like screens that freeze the whole thing up. Sure sign of mother board issues.
The good news. Got some good movies on my ipod. Will finish watching Inside Man today and re-watch a couple of my older but favorite terrorists films.
The bad news. It's fucking cold in the office today and I didn't wear enough layers.
The good news. Have a warm zipper sweater to put on.
The bad news. Spilled some honey on my shirt this morning and can't get it out.
The good news. The aforementioned sweater covers up the stain.

Thoughts about Turkey Bacon
With this diet I have been given the opportunity to try foods that I
normally would never have thought about eating before. One of those
foods is turkey bacon.
You know, you really shouldn't mess with good ole pork bacon. There
just isn't a way to substitute that goodness of fried pig fat. But one
of the things I have learned is not to look at these new foods as
substitutes but to appreciate them for their different flavors. Turkey
bacon definitely falls into this category.
One of the things that is done to turkey bacon is that it is heavily
smoked to mask its turkeyness. The brand I'm using even has a strip in
the slice that is supposed to resemble the fat in pig bacon. It looks
funny and the texture is kinda weird too.
Until today I have been frying it in my pan just like my regular bacon
and have learned a few things. 1. It can burn very fast, so keep your
eye on it. 2. You can overcook it without burning it, thus making it
difficult to cut or chew. 3. It doesn't make your eggs taste better if
you cook them in the pan after the bacon. You need that pig fat.
I have about 10 strips of it left and decided that I needed to consume
this stuff before it goes bad so I put my two slices in my little
container that I put my eggs in and microwaved them this morning. It
was like meeting God. The turkey bacon actually resembled the taste of
pig bacon and was very pleasing. The texture is still weird but I can
live with that.
Now there's that thing with whole wheat pasta, but that is another story.

Healthy living
I got off to a late start this morning and stopped to take pictures in the park, a sure sign i was going to miss my train. With the combination of losing 21 pounds & regular exercise i made my train. I even ran up a flight of stairs without gasping at the end.

Pizza Dough
Tonight, I have made my very first batch of pizza dough. Yup, with
yeast and flour and stuff. I do need to work on my rolling pin skills
though.
But considering that I now have a mini food processor, cutting boards
for veggies, meat poultry and fish, and the fact that I ordered an
immersible blender last night -- I am a domestic goddess.
Sometimes this level of domesticity scares me!

Minor Apple Dissapointment
Ok, I am still excited about the iPhone because when you compare the features with other smart phones like the blackberry this kicks ass. A little disspointed that the highest capcity is 8gb and that there is no iChat at this time. That, of course, can change whent he phone is actually released in June.
My major dissapointment is that there was not an announcement for a standalone widescreen video ipod. At this very moment I have close to 4500 songs, 600 photos amnd 31 videos (these get rotated with tv shows and movies) and I am currently at 55.7gb of my 60gb ipod.
I am still hopefull because Apple also does a major annoucnement every spring. We did not hear more about Leopard at yesterday's keynote so I am optimistic that in the spring there will also be an announcement for a standalone widescreen video ipod.
But you know I'm gonna get the phone and the apple tv. Hey, I'm gadget geek girl!

Glad Pisses Me Off
Since I have been bringing in my own breakfast and lunch to work since I don't know when, I have become somewhat of an expert of those Glad and Ziploc containers.
Overall, I prefer the Ziploc containers. They never leak and you can get many uses out of them before you finally sigh and determine it is time for you to go my little friend. The Glad containers on the other hand have severe leakage problems, especially the really small ones.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find Ziploc containers in the very small size -- the 1/2 cup size. These containers are perfect for bringing in salad dressing or other things along those lines. This has left me with Glad but not feeling all that glad about it.
If you plan on using them more than once you are better off hand washing them because the lids don't do well in the dishwasher. So this is my warning to you, if you wash the lids in the dishwasher place your dressing filled container in some sort of baggie, preferably Ziploc, because it will leak. Especially if your dressing is balsamic vinaigrette.
I'm also at the point of leaving a bottle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar here just so that I don't have to deal with the leakiness. :(
BTW, I am loving Blogger's new spell check thingie but only on PC. They still need to do some work on it for Mac.

Running/Walking Etiquette
When I am at home I usually do my 3.5 mile walk around the park that is a block away from my house. Becasue I walk in the direction where you have more uphills than downhills I tend to be going against the current so to speak and often pass people on the way. Being that this is a friendly running/walking community we usually say hello.
So here's the question is ok to do this only once or do you have to acknowledge each other everytime you pass the same person?

Happy New Year
So far it has been a crappy day here, lots of rain. I'm getting antsy because I want to go out for my 3.5 mile walk, but don't want to get drenched at the same time. It does look like the rain is starting to let up a bit so I might be headed out soon. I guess this means that I'm slowly turning into a health nut.
