perhaps i should do my status reports i owe two weeks worth now. my unofficial new year's resolution (cuz i don't make resolutions, it was just a coincidence that i decided to stay on top of my weekly status reports at the same time the new year rolled around.)was to actually stay on top of my status reports. so i now have two weeks of little pieces of paper with the times and tasks that i did that day. one problem, however, i did not put the actual day i performed these tasks on the little paper. i'll have to guess on that. my actual intention was to enter them into my calendar on my ibook the very day i did these tasks. well of course i got caught up in the book i was reading on the train and it just seemed to be too much trouble when i got home. so i sort of have a vague idea what day i actually did these things, but i still can't remember what i had for lunch last monday. now that is really bugging me. i think i bought it. oh man this is really pissing me off. let me start backwards from friday.
fuck, i gotta start including this on my status reports. should i worry that i can't remember what i ate for lunch last week? i'll add this to my calendar for sure. oh, for those of you who have not done your taxes yet, you can deduct your sales tax if you itemize. if you use turbo tax it will calculate this for you cuz i'm sure no one actually has their receipts. // posted by stacey on 1:05:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunday, January 30, 2005 heterosexual questionnaire often, gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders are questioned about the reasons for their sexual orientation. here are some sample questions to ask heterosexuals. 1. what do you think caused your heterosexuality? 2. when and how did you decide that you were a heterosexual? 3. is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase that you may grow out of? 4. is it possible your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex? 5. if you've never slept with a person of the same sex, is it possible that all you need is a good gay or lesbian lover? 6. to whom have you disclosed your heterosexual tendencies? how did they react? 7. why do you heterosexuals feel compelled to seduce others into your life-style? 8. why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? why can't you just be what you are and keep quiet about it? 9. would you want your children to be heterosexual knowing the problems that they'd face? 10. a disproportionate majority of child molestors are heterosexual. do you consider it safe to expose your children to heterosexual teachers? 11. with all the societal support marriage receives, the divorce rate is spiraling. why are there so few stable relationships among heterosexuals? 12. why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex? 13. considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual like you? 14. could you trust a heterosexual therapist to be objective? don't you fear (s)he might be inclined to influence you in the direction of her/his own leanings? 15. how can you become a whole person if you limit yourself to compulsive, exclusive heterosexuality, and fail to develop you natural, healthy homosexual potential? 16. there seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. techniques have been developed that might enable you to change if you really want to. have you considered trying aversion therapy? // posted by stacey on 11:28:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, January 27, 2005 committing gross (and i mean gross) negligence i had to pee really bad this morning when i got to work. i run into the bathroom and do my thing, so minutes after someone else used the facilities. as i am peeing it sounds as though the water is boiling in another toilet, then it stops. i finish and flush. nothing. nothing happens. it won't flush. i start to panic because i am about to commit an act that i despise in others -- leaving an unflushed toilet. there is nothing i can do. i go the sink in a hurry so that no one can see me. i turn on the faucet. nothing. there is no water in the building! still freaking out i tell chrissy (after i use hand sanitizer), she calls chips and he says that he thinks the pipes have frozen. she puts on a sign on the door and sit waiting. 30 minutes later we get the email the water is back on. i run and flush before anyone enters. whew, saved myself from committing gross negligence! // posted by stacey on 9:16:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, January 25, 2005 icope well no i can't. for the past few months we have been trying to figure out how to deal with these papers from icope that need to be fit into the power conference. after much back and forth we get the first batch of papers that have to be processed manually. in order for ar to do this i have to help give her information that she can just import into filemaker pro. normally this is not a problem. but this guy who gave a word file with the additional ifnromation like track and session number, paper titles and other contact info has complied this in such a way that it is vitrually un-convertable to excel. he created these nice tables but decided to bullet the contact information. he decided to create additional tracks and sessions that just don't exist. apparently my stress levels don't matter. my life has to be crazy to make another person's easier. // posted by stacey on 2:34:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, January 24, 2005 air freshener i wonder if metro north sells that urine air freshener that they have sprayed all over the car? i would love to get some for myself! // posted by stacey on 4:48:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- officially dug out i can say this with pride (sort of) cuz i made it work only 10 minutes late. that lateness was in part caused by a cab driver who missed a turn and metro-north's own lateness (which wasn't too bad considering the conditions). although while i was waiting for my cab this morning i was really hoping it wouldn't show up so i could use it as an excuse to not show up. i didn't run out of coke which was very good and i watched two good movies (saved and garden state) and bonded with the dog and cats. you would also think that with all this time on my hands i would have made my lunch for today. well of course not because that would have been the smart thing to do. so now i have to go out in the cold to get something. i also have to stop in duane reade to get some coke because medha corp. (the news stand in the building) is closed this week. sigh. i really need some time off and soon. oh and apparently pvd has a new job. during our meeting with our managing director pvd mentioned that he is working on his new job as well as his old one. when cbc questioned this our managing director put his fingers up to his lips as if to say "shhh." very interesting indeed. we think it is as director of the newly combined tech pubs and codes & standards pubs areas. hmmmm. // posted by stacey on 1:02:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunday, January 23, 2005 done with shoveling i have completed shoveling the front and back yards. people can walk the paths and even pull their cars into the driveway. not all the way up the driveway but enough to get the whole car into it. i even have a special doggy area for julie to go do her stuff. i think we got just barely 12 inches depending on the snow drifts. one of the things that does amaze me about port chester, and i guess a good sign that my tax dollars to go to good use, the streets are incredibly plowed and salted. the only thing i did not get was the rest of my sunday times. not too thrilled about this. although westchester county did issue a state of emergency i do consider my nytimes delivery guy to be essential. i mean come on i need my sunday styles section! well anyway, here's the latest snow picture. this was before i redid the path i shoveled last night.
// posted by stacey on 11:49:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- shovels one thing that always amazes me during large snow storms is the amount of shovels that are sold. i can undertsand rushing to home depot for ice melt but shovels -- every time it snows? what do people do with their shovels after it snows? i really get the feeling that they throw them out. it just doesn't make any sense. i mean i have had my shovel for at least five years and it is still as strong as ever. its been through at least three blizards. speaking of shoveling, what i shoveled yesterday i snow covered. but it is only six inches high where the rest of the yard is about 12 inches. i did find my battery charger (still in the suit case that used for the anaheim trip) and charged those digi cam batteries. so i promise to have a better front yard covered in snow picture. maybe i'll even get julie out in it with her new red sweater on. // posted by stacey on 9:20:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturday, January 22, 2005 snow update i just got through shovelling the first batch of snow. i've got about 6 inches so far. the snow is still light and fluffy so i figure i would shovel 6 inches now so that i don't have to shovel 20+ tomorrow. my guy who used to come last year is no longer around. i called earlier in the week and his phone number was disconnected. :( // posted by stacey on 7:22:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- first snow pix can't find batteries or my battery charger for the digi cam so the first pix of the blizzard is from my camera phone.
// posted by stacey on 2:43:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- snow everyone knows i hate it. well the first bit of the 12 to 24 inches we are supposed to get has started to fall. luckily i made my last minute errand to make sure that i had enough coke on hand. the mail made it okay and thankfully my two netflix dvds, saved and garden state, arrived earlier than scheduled. what i do have to complain about, aside from the snow itself, is those people who insist on taking out their snow mobiles before there is even two inches of snow on the ground. i mean come on already. there will be plently of it later on. the snow is coming down awfully fast and that is scary because the weather folks said it would be heavy after 3:00 pm. i'll try and find my battery charger so that i can take pictures of the snow as it progresses. this could be very interesting today. // posted by stacey on 1:34:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, January 21, 2005 jinxed figures that i would mention to rick that my ipod remote is in the early stages of death that it is now in critical but stable condition. it is now getting staticy with sudden movement. just couldn't wait til february. // posted by stacey on 5:02:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, January 20, 2005 i now know how i will be able to get my new ipod -- the irs. it is amazing that i completely forgot about this unplanned for cash flow. even though i kept hoping that we would get our w-2s this next week it somehow escaped me that i would get money back. i always get money back, perhaps even more this year because i paid a lot of property taxes. this is very exciting because i was thinking i would have to wait until march to get it. now it definitely looks like february will be the month. i am so excited. i am even planning an evening trip into white plains if i get my refund during the week. this is how important it is to me. updates: 1. after more than a few hours (unless you combined the hours into groups of three or four) the f drive was finally restored. however, i was not here at 8:30 pm to enjoy this. 2. if you haven't seen mean girls do so. watch it during f drive melt down and it perked me up quite a bit. 3. i think chrissy thinks i'm grumpy because i don't like to talk in the morning. this has nothing to do with grumpiness. even though i come into work between 8:00 am and 8:30 am every day does not make me a morning person. i'm not and it usually takes me an hour to warm up to verbal communication. i mentioned my quiet time to her when she started coming in early but i don't think she gets it yet. i'll have to talk to her. 4. 26 days until pitchers and catchers report to yankess spring training. spring what a wonderful thing. i need to start planning a vacation to miami. i may not be able to take it in april like i usually do due to cp's surgery so it may be in march. ooh and i'll have the new ipod! 5. liz's last day is on the 28th. i'm gonna get her name plate and add it to the collection. hehe. // posted by stacey on 9:08:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, January 19, 2005 milkshake two movies in a row, dodgeball and mean girls, have featured kelis' song milkshake. i wonder how many movies this song is in? // posted by stacey on 10:13:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no f drive if the f drive is going to be down for a few hours then you should un-super scout all of the gaming websites so that we can have something to do during this time. so i sit and wait. i can't even do other web work because cold fusion studio writes to the f drive even though my files save to the h drive. this is some bizarre stuff. good thing i have my ibook so at least i can play the games on that. i will put the f drive situation on my status report. oh and other interesting tidbits. i will be taking a defibrilator course next wedensday. i wonder if i can selectively choose who to save. more like not save pvd. diretv took the trio channel off. not sure what this means for all of you but thought you might like to know. i'm bored. // posted by stacey on 9:25:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, January 18, 2005 patience i consider myself to be a pretty patient person. i am being tested today and am now beginning to lose my patience -- big time. chrissy decided to quit smoking today without any cutting back. she's doing it cold turkey. this is the conversation we had yesterday. sc: you were supposed to quit today right? cp: yeah, but there's this pack of cigarettes here and there are more cigarettes than i thought. i have to smoke them all before i can quit. sc: you don't have to smoke them just get rid of them. cp: i can't get rid of them. sc: give them to your brother. cp: lol i don't think she did that. she is starting to get irritable and it has been about 6 hours. she is bugging out over the smallest of things. she's getting very close to yelling at me and taking it out on me. i understand the reasons why, but even i can only take so much. so far i have intervened on a few things but i don't know how much longer i can take this. // posted by stacey on 1:37:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, January 17, 2005 there will be no muffins for you! today is martin luther king, jr. day and the train schedules are all very weird because metro-north expects most people to have the day off. i am one of the people who does not. apparently the people who bake muffins had the day off. this left my cart guy with rolls and bagels. this left me with a major dilemma. buttered roll or buttered bagel. ooh decisions like this before 8:00 am can be awfully scary. i chose the buttered roll. i think it was a wise decision. not too heavy like a bagel would be, but filling enough. chrissy isn't feeling well and took today off. weird cuz i thought i had beat her in. yes, you heard that right beat her in. she has been taking an earlier train in and coming to work at 8:00 am. very weird indeed. while i am very proud of her for doing this, it has thrown my mornings off. by coming in between 8:00 am and 8:30 am i get about an hour of quiet time which i desperately need to finsih waking up. during this time i answer all support email and by 9:30 am i am completely awake and ready to deal with conversations. when cp comes in early i do not have that opportunity and conversation starts alomost right away. it really threw me off balance last week. i almost contemplated changing my schedule to 7:30 am to 3:40 pm but thought better of it cuz that is just way too early. but if i can't adjust to chrissy's new time i just might. my balance is very important. so is that muffin, i miss it so much. // posted by stacey on 9:49:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, January 07, 2005 first googlewhack of the day ok, i finished reading all of my online news and did some work before settling on my first googlewhack attempt of the day. in four tries i got it -- isoantigen harpsichord. here's the screen shot.
// posted by stacey on 9:21:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- googlewhacked last night dave gorman whacked my google. cbc took me and chrissy to go see dave gorman's googlewhacked. for those of you who do not happen to know what a googlewhack is it is the incredible phenomenon of entering two words (without quotes) into the google search field and you get only one result. for example transubstantiated horticulturist only brings up one result -- try it. but i digress. googlewhacked had to be one of the best one man shows i have ever seen. dave gorman is hilarious and the adventure he takes you one is incredible. there is a great line about fridge magnets that chrissy and i died over considering our large display of magnets here at the office. the show is currently at the village theater on bleeker street in nyc and he'll be there until jan 9. you've got three more opportunities. go get your tickets now! after that he heads to la. the other great thing about the show is that it should give me something to do today at work. ;P // posted by stacey on 8:09:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, January 06, 2005 for the love of god when there is only one other person in the bathroom do not go into the stall right next to them! especially if you are going to have sound effects!! // posted by stacey on 4:27:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- status reports well i finished my status reports for 04. amazingly i didn't have to make up too much stuff. i also made a to do list for today but haven't done a single thing on it. i usually don't make to do list because i don't need them. my stuff gets done in a timely fashion. so of course i made this list and have not done a sinlge thing on it. my current financial status is broke. i literally have 10 dollars to live off until january 12. it would be really nice if i got my felxible spending reimbursement check today. i'm not convinced that i can make it until then. i hate fucking property taxes!!!! // posted by stacey on 9:54:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, January 05, 2005 work and such we are probably one of the few companies that had monday off as an extension to our new year's time off. so unlike many of you i'm still working a short week. ha ha. this in many ways is a good thing, as martha would say. last week as we all recall no one was in the office which gave me the opportunity to watch some movies during the day. this killed the time of me not having any substantial amounts of work to do. well, now everyone is back but my work load has not increased that much. the problem is that with all these folks walking around i can't watch any movies. at least until i devise a better way to hide my ibook from the casual passer by. hmmm, this may give me something to do this afternoon after all. i have played a major amount of pinball since everything has been super scouted. remember you can apparently do no work at all with the games pre-installed on your pc but doing so and possibly using mucho amounts of bandwidth are not allowed. i almost broke the 20 mil mark in pinball today. i still beat my last high score tho.
i could do my status reports for the past two weeks but i have to make up a bunch of stuff for last week. i obviously can't put that i watched station agent, man on fire, before night falls and other tv shows i recorded to dvd. i thought i would sort of cheat and look at what i did last year at this time and guess what i actually had work to do! this means i would have work to do this year if one of my organizers got off his ass and did the fucking job he volunteered to do! this guy is going to be a real problem and unfortunately i'm going to have to clean up the mess that he has made. i also wish that i would have my dumb review already. i can't help but think about that nice retroactive pay check with my raise. i could really use that money right now and it would be nice to have it in next week's paycheck. if the amount is enough who knows i might be able to justify the expense of my new ipod. but i think that will still have to wait until february. my last wish is that i could be at home right now. it is much better to be at home and not worry about money. // posted by stacey on 1:49:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, January 04, 2005 new year same old judy and mgs first day back at work and i gotta listen to a conversation about mgs' shower curtains from the dollar store and new carpeting on how they got the carpeting in tj's room done real cheap cuz they waited for a sale. // posted by stacey on 9:12:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, January 03, 2005 new year thoughts i love the fact that i have not had to start the new year working. that's tomorrow. i wonder if i will ever get julie to the pet spa before she turns into a giant sheep dog. i wonder if chrissy is feeling a void of not having to hear anything about apple and itunes or anything that begins with i. i wonder if the can man will finally be destroyed. he has not gotten my cans (haha) for three weeks now. i will beat him again today. jerk! // posted by stacey on 9:59:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
