boost mobile check out the commercials from boost mobile. they are too funny. // posted by stacey on 8:04:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, June 24, 2004 i survived the corporate challenge i walked the 3.5 miles of yesterday's corporate challenge in 1:03:39. not bad considering that i haven't been to the gym in over a year and haven't exercised as much as i should. i must still be feeling the endorrphins from yesterday because i'm thinking about starting a training regimen to beat my time for next year. i'm also still tasting that second ultimate june bug from friday's. the ingredients for the june bug are: 1 oz. Melon Liqueur, 1/2 oz. Coconut-Flavored Rum, 1/2 oz. Banana Liqueur, 2 oz. Sweet & Sour Mix, 2 oz. Pineapple Juice. mmm-mmm good. you can find more recipes from friday's on their mixology website. the goody bag provided to the finishers of the race provided some nutrition for the day after as well. thank you jpmorganchase for the granola bar that became breakfast this morning! ---- just got the pciture of the group.
// posted by stacey on 9:17:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, June 23, 2004 i think i'm getting old i got home at 11:00pm last night and am still feeling very tired this morning. this is beginning to worry me. last year this was not a problem. because of my sleepy state this morning i have decided that today will probably be a day consumed by many games of tetris. another sign that i may be getting old is that at exactly 5:27am i suffered an excruciating cramp in my calf. just what i need on the day of the corporate challenge. i also feel out of sorts because i left my ibook at home due to the aforementioned corporate challenge. it is a bit difficult to walk competitively (not speed walk, mind you. that is just weird.) with a laptop and case (backpack or messenger bag). believe me i thought about it. so instead of the ibook i have my cruzer mini from sandisk but i am still feeling a bit gadget deprived. hmm perhaps i will load up on some carbs before the day is over. gotta make sure i have energy for the corporate challenge. // posted by stacey on 10:55:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, June 22, 2004 some women are just grimey at tonight's liberty game there was a really good give away. there were only 5000 so many of us got there early. at about 630 these two slobby dykes try to cut in front of me. i didn't let them but they got behind me. bitches. // posted by stacey on 10:42:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, June 21, 2004 mondays really suck sometimes mondays really suck when you didn't get enough sleep the night before, you have a 10:00 am meeting you hate, and you discover that the summer flex hours that you have been working for the past three years are more than what is required. i will have to hurt serena for this! // posted by stacey on 8:00:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturday, June 19, 2004 moises the lawn boy rules yes, it is worth it to have someone mow your lawn. i have used my new free time wisely and can now fully enjoy the outdoor furniture in my backyard, oh and being wireless helps. so now i can enjoy lounging in my hammock and blog at the same time quilt free. there are no thoughts of, i should be mowing the lawn now. the only thing on my mind is the weather. will it be nice for a prolonged amount of time so that i can hang up my paper lanterns and truly enjoy the backyard. julie is also enjoying the backyard. at this moment she is rolling in the grass in an area that smells good to poodles. // posted by stacey on 1:47:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- is it laziness? i have finally hired a person to mow my lawn for me. so now i must wonder if it makes me lazy to not do my own lawn or does it mean that i am using my time more wisely? i vote for the latter. for example i could not write this post right now because i would be mowing my lawn. // posted by stacey on 10:20:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, June 16, 2004 drama and more drama wow, what a week it has been and it is only wednesday. it is never a good thing when you get an email message from your departing hr director with the subject - benefit changes. here is just a sample of what she sent. "As you know, we are always looking for ways to reduce costs and make improvements on existing programs or benefits. For example, over the next few months we will be doing an extensive review of all of our fringe benefit programs. The cost to ASME to provide free coffee now exceeds $25,000 per year. Consideration was given to eliminating the coffee machine. Instead, we have decided to continue to provide the service and share the cost with those of you who use it. Beginning Monday, June 28th there will be a charge of 50 cents per cup of coffee or tea from the machine on the 21st floor. A similar machine, providing coffee or tea at the same price, will be installed in the kitchen on the 23rd floor. A change machine will be installed near the coffee machine and vending machines on the 21st floor. Service Award checks for 25 year and longer service will be eliminated effective January 1, 2005. These long service employees will continue to be recognized with certificates, letters and pins. " my suggestion is get rid of the dumb coffee machine all together. we've only had for a couple of years and it tastes like crap and doesn't even fill a full cup. use that new $25,000 savings reinstate that service award checks. no one wants the dumb ass certificates and pins! one of the few people from ep who actually does work was fired on tuesday evening. we are all in total shock and upset about this. we are now trying to figure what he did that would require such an immediate dismissal. i am really down on the company this week. // posted by stacey on 7:30:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- another day another day another got car on metro north. i pay 188 per month for what exactly? // posted by stacey on 7:23:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, June 11, 2004 i love you quiznos yes you are mmmm...toasty. my half philly cheese steak was superb, next time i think i will get a whole one. but next time i will order through quiznos-togo.com. this where i can set up my own account and plan my order two whole weeks in advance. :) // posted by stacey on 1:27:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, June 10, 2004 email notables here are some tidbits from some email messages i have received in the past week or so. "I will be traveling from June 5 through June 11. Cynthia Clark (extension 7099) will be in charge in my absence." -- this means cbc can fire pvd. yipee! "The nation, and much of the world, has been saddened by the death of Ronald Reagan, our 40th President. A state funeral will be held on Friday, June 11th, in Washington DC. If you would like to take time off from work to mourn President Reagan in your own way, please speak with your supervisor about taking PTO time. Supervisors are asked to be understanding in granting requests for PTO time this Friday." -- whatever "I would like to have a discussion with Burt, Phil and you to fully understand the roles of EP and Tech. Pubs when using the tool. Until we can come to some agreement as to who is responsible for what I am holding off making any commitments for 2005." -- what you actually have to do some work now and would like to change things so you don't have to work. dick. "Them and I discussed that the toolboxes were not going to be ready to accept abstracts by the time they were distributed." -- may i suggest you buy a copy of elements of style by strunk & white. // posted by stacey on 8:49:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Monday, June 07, 2004 summer flex time my summer hours have started all so i can have every other friday off. is it worth it? i guess so, i do enjoy the fridays that i take off. it just sucks having to stay longer at a job where no one outside of your dept. actually appreciates your work. sigh. // posted by stacey on 9:19:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thursday, June 03, 2004 do i look like a conductor? i make it a habit to sit in the seat by the restroom on the train specifically so that no one will sit next to me. yes, on occasion you do get that strange odor but if you sit there for a while you don't even notice it -- honest. two days in a row now someone has insisted on sitting next to me in the seat next to the window. the train starts moving and then five minutes later there is a tap on my shoulder. keep in mind i am wearing headphones. then ask, "is this the local train to stamford?" if i were really mean and cold hearted on the outside as i am on the inside my response would be, "do i look like a conductor? oh, and shouldn't you ask this before you get on the train?" but no i am polite and say, "yes." // posted by stacey on 6:03:00 PM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no more tetris i have to give up tetris because i am developing pains in my right arm from constantly using the arrow keys when i play. maybe i could just play for an hour a day instead. on a side note mgs and judy are chatting away in the hallway by my cube. mgs' son tj did not sleep walk last night so she got plenty of rest. i guess this means she has plenty of energy to talk. coming in early used to be very pleasant because i was able to get a lot accomplished while it was still quiet. it is becoming more difficult to accomplish that. :( // posted by stacey on 9:04:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, June 01, 2004 how could i let this happen? for some very bizarre reason i have gotten myself re-addicted to tetris. although part of the blame has to go to the it dept. they are the ones who blocked all of our games. what they didn't realize is that you can still play flash games. i was quite happy being addicted to collapse and alchemy but noooooooooooo, it had to block those games leaving me with tetris. bastards! // posted by stacey on 9:28:00 AM // | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
